Mr. John Perry Christensen
I received my B.S. in Philosophy from Utah Valley University in 2011 and my M.A. in History from the University of Utah in 2015. Also in 2015, I was awarded the prestigious Maybelle Burton Fellowship in the Humanities to pursue a Ph.D. in History at the University of Utah. As of now, I'm a dissertation away from receiving my doctorate (what we call "ABD," or "All But Dissertation," in academia). My dissertation explores how American physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers conceptualized work’s relationship with mental health and hygiene during the twentieth century. I'm married with four kids. When I'm not reading, writing, or spending time with my family, I like to explore my world. I can often be found with my family investigating the many mysteries of Provo River and Utah Lake. I taught Philosophy and History at UVU for ten years before making the move to UCAS in 2019. I was awarded UCAS Teacher of the Year for 2020-2021 school year, and I was nominated for Utah Teacher of the Year in 2022.
