Mrs. Alsop

 Computer Science Educator

UVU Concurrent Enrollment Instructor

Hello!  My name is Aimee Alsop and I'm thrilled to be a part of the UCAS team.  I received my bachelors degree from Brigham Young University in Youth Leadership.  I spent 3 years as a recreation therapist at New Haven treatment center and Stonehenge skilled nursing facility.  I graduated from the Bottega Coding school in 2018 and have been teaching at UCAS ever since.  I love it here!

This year I will be teaching Computer Science Principles which covers the UVU CS 1030 course.  We will be using programming to create projects that cross over into a variety of disciplines.  We will develop the thought processes that go into effective programming algorithms and exercise creative problem solving.  Computer science is awesome because it facilitates all other disciplines and improves every other field of study.

My husband and I like to travel, explore ancient ruins, and cook curry together.  On weekends we often go canyoneering down in southern Utah and almost get stuck in slot canyons.  I also love storytelling, bird watching, and escape rooms.
