    ATHLETIC/MUSIC/DRAMA PARTICIPATION

    POLICY IJ

While the Utah County Academy of Sciences (UCAS) recognizes the importance of extracurricular activities, participation in extracurricular activities at the neighborhood schools is discouraged.  Typically these activities take away time from what UCAS students may need to complete their study of college/university level course work in which they are enrolled.

A UCAS student may participate in extracurricular activities in their neighborhood high school if they meet ALL of the following conditions:

    1. The student is not failing any courses and has at least a 3.0 GPA at both UCAS. Mountainland Technology College (MTECH), and Utah Valley University (UVU).
    2. The activity can be done outside of the 9am to 4pm UCAS school day.
    3.  The neighborhood high school and district agree to have the UCAS student participate.
    4. UCAS will compensate the local district for the extracurricular activity. However, the student may be required to drop one UCAS, MTECH, or UVU course during the regular school day hours.
