I am a native Oregonian and had webbed feet before moving to St. George in 2010. The desert and sunshine was a huge adjustment and I learned to love it, but am so excited to be in this cooler part of the state and closer to all of my children! I'm a mom of 5 girls, nana to 2 of the cutest little grandsons, and alpha to 2 dogs. I love spending time with my kids playing games, cooking food, making music, shopping, or just binge watching Netflix! I play the piano for fun and love to accompany my daughter who plays the cello. I love to sew and actually made money at it for a minute or two.
I graduated from Portland State University with a BS in Biology in 1994 (at one point in my life I wanted to be a doctor). I was just starting a family at that time so took time off to raise 5 children. In 2000, my husband was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and for the next 13 years I tried to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up! I got my Real Estate license and sold real estate for a few years. I cleaned houses. I sewed. I went to work as an academic advisor for a similar charter school in St. George until I discovered how much I enjoyed working with students one-on-one. At the young age of 51, I went back to college and graduated from the University of Utah in 2016 with a MEd in Educational Psychology, with an emphasis in school counseling.
My mantra at this point in my life is YOLO and "a day at a time - just take it a day at a time - live in this moment now". Life is short, but not so short that you can't learn something new every day, dream big, and go after whatever floats your boat - even in your 50s!
